The E.M. gave judgment for plaintiff in suit brought by Newman (the defeated City West candidate) against Muclmllie (Dr Wallis’ agent) for treating at election. Tho case will probably be used as evidence in election petition against Dr Wallis. Dargaville intends to become an antiGrey candidate for the Thames, if Whitaker does not stand. Potato crop at Onehunga almost wholly 'destroyed by frost last night. Hops completely withered. Loss estimated at £2OOO. Mr Whitaker accepts Hall’s invitation to take Attorney-Generalship, and a seat in tho Upper House. He leaves for Wellington to-morrow. ♦
