o MB FREEMAN E. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Wanganui, September 24. Large supplies of store cattle have come forward during the past fortnight. At my three sales, 1,100 head were sold, every lot, excepting some large framed bullocks at Hawcra, being sold. Prices rule now about 20s per head lower than at the corresponding sale of last year ; and with no prospect of any advance for some time to come. Athough grass is plentiful, the quietness of money has a tendency to lower values. Beef of prime quality can be quoted at 22s 6d the lOOlbs; inferior beef is not saleable. Sheep are about Is to Is 6d lower to-day than at last sale, wethers making lls 6d. Cattle —At Hawcra, 296 head came forward —Bullocks, £5 17s Gd to £6 10s ; cows and calves, £5 10s ; 2-year-old steers and heifers, £3 12s 6(1; calves, £2 6s ; yearlings, £3. At the St. Hill Street yards to-day 263 wei'e offered—Fat bullocks, £9 7s 6d to £ll 2s 6d; cows, £8 2s 6d to £8 15s ; 3 superior cows, £ll 2s Cd ; steers, £4 12s 6d to £4 15s; cows, £3 12s 6d to £5 ; yearlings, £2. Sheep.—At the yards to-day, 1,222 were penned and sold—Best wethers, lls 6d, 10s, 9s fid ; inferior, 6s fid ; shorn sheep, ss, fjoraes.—Dull of sale, with very little business done.
