PATEA AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
A Committee meeting of the Pa tee District Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Carlyle on Saturday last. Present —Messrs 0. Hawes (chairman), Coutts, PeauocK, Rymes, K.ql. Morgan, Gibson, G. Ncwland, Honcyfield, Powdrell, Pearce, Morton, Chapman, Dickie, Robertson, W. Gower, and Hunter. In repiy to a question as to tlie reason why the ploughing match had not taken place, it was (stated by members of the Committee that they found it next to impossible to obtain any support in the matter, owing no doubt to the unsettled state of affairs in the district, caused by th 3 native difficulty. The Secretary' read a letter and copy' of resolution received from the Wanganui Agricultural Society', setting forth the desirability' of the different Societies on the West Coast amalgamating; that an imnufil sbow bo lielcl wliicli would, be sin attraction to other parts of New Zealand, and greatly forward the interests of agricultural and pastoral pursuits in this district ; and that in the event of the invit dion being favorably' received, a conference meeting be held to consider the terms of amalgamation. Proposed by' Mr Coutts, seconded by' Mr Robertson, and carried, 11 That the Committee of the Patea Association cannot entertain the question of amalgation with Wanganui, but promise to lay' the communication before the next animal meetIt was tlecided that the annual parade of entire horses, under the auspices of the Patea A. and P. Association, take p'aoe on Saturday, 13 th September, at 2 p.m., behind the Court House.”
Messrs Peacock, Ciiapman, Coutts, W. Pearce, and C. Byrnes, were appointed a Committee to arrange preliminaries tor the parade.
