The City of London is advertised to sail from Sydney on loth, and from Melbourne on 20th September. New Zealand Lean and MercantileAgcncy have received the following telegram from London :—Wool competition is decreasing. Quotations are on an average £d to Id lower I ban at opening. Seedy Burry wools neglected. Up to date 74,000 bales sold, 9,000 bales withdrawn during past sales. Scoured declined Id since close last sales. South Australian medium and inferior greasy declined 4d to Id per lb. Temperance bodies have declared for Levin and Hunter as candidates to support. Mr Hutchison, present Mayor, threatens the New Zealand Times with action for libel, for certain reflections upon bis character in the journal. NELSON. August 26. Mr Action Adams addressed a very large meeting of electors, and made a vehement attack on Government fur the mess they made in native affairs—Macandrew for maladministration of public works, and Grey for insincerity, as shown by contrast between promises and actions. Vote of thanks and conlidenae carried without a single dissent.
