(Per Press Agency.) WELLINGTON. August 5. An inquiry has been asked for into cause of dismissal of Capt McKeraie from the Stella. Notice of motion has been given for the suspension of all private Bills until next session. Mr Murray asked if subsidies are to be continued to Local Bodies. The Premier declined to answer until he knew whether he was going to be at the hearj-of affairs or not. W. Fox gave notice to ask in what ' papers Government advertisements have been inserted during the year, and the amount paid. Mr Macfarlane withdrew Bill for purging Bay of Island Electoral Roll. Five Million Loan Bill passed through Committee. Mr McLean asked for assurance that no gentleman be sent home to negotiate the loan. The Premier said the pledge asked for by Mr McLean could not be given, but \mtil the matter was mentioned, neither he nor his colleagues thought of any such thing. The Bill then passed. As they were not ready with schedules to Financial Statement, the Premier asked for a day’s delay. He would lay the statement before the House on Thursday. It was rather a complicated one, and unusual in form- The clerks could not have it ready before Thursday, and the prorogation would take place on Friday. Mr Stewart, in committee, moved that the writs for new Parliament be isuued within three days after the dissolution, and made returnable within thirty days. New House to meet on 20th September. The Premier said it was impossible for bira to fix any day under the circumstances, hut lie would do the best he could in the interest of the country. . Debate interrupted at 5.30.
