In the House of Representatives to-day, Mr Rees gave notice to move, That the conduct of Sir William Fox in accepting honors without the consent of the Government, was unconstitutional. Replying to a question, the Government declined tointerferein equalising the license fees throughout the colony.

In the Legislative Council (o-day, on a question respecting the appointment of the Speaker, the lion Colonel Whitmore said the story that the Premier told Major Richmond that the Ministry wanted some one who would support their measures, was beneath contempt. Sir William Fitzherberl said that the Premier had extracted no pledge whatever. A Bill to control and cure drunkards was read a first time in the Council to-day.
