PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
x ixx UiX ii 4jtji xv \y i.4 v/ i.A • Tub usual monthly mooting of the above Board was held at tlie Kakaramea, Town Hall on Monday, July 14th. Present: Messrs Mcßae, Marchant, Taylor, Campbell, Napier, and Paterson. The Secretary read a letter from t'ic Returning Officer, notifying the nanus of the new Board. Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Campbell, and carried ummimuiuly, “That Mr R. E. Mcßae be elected Chairman of the Board. 7 ’ Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed.
Mr H. B. Hamilton waited upon the Board re the condition of the lower portion of Taumaha Road, and requested the Board to make the road. Letter read from Captains Cowern and Tregear, requesting permission to clear Unthanks Road for the purpose of a rifle range. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Marchant, and carried, “ That Captains Cowern and Tregear be allowed to clear as much of Unthanks Road as they think necessary,” Letter read from Messrs Walsh and Ivearin, re falling bush in front of their land on Wilford Road. Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Campbell, and carried, “ That the matter referred to in Messrs Walsh and Kearin’s letter, stand over till next meeting.” Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded by Mr Paterson, and carried, “ That the Board meet on the second Monday in each month, at 2 o’clock p.m., at the Kakaramoa Town Hall.” Resolved, That the members meet at the Manntahi Hotel, at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, 23rd instant, to inspect the roads in the district.
Proposed by Mr Napier seconded by Mr Marchant, and carried, “ That a special meeting be held at Mr Dale’s office, Carlyle, on the 23rd instant, at 4: o’clock p.m., to prepare estimates for the year.” Proposed by Mr Campbell, seconded by Mr Mcßae, pro forma, and lost or division by 5 votes to 1 vote, “ That aij. advertisement be inserted in the Patea M4.il, inviting applications for Secretary for the West Road Board, and state salary, applications to be addressed to the Chairman on or before the next general meeting of the Board.” Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Marchant, and carried, “ That Mr W. Dale bo retained as Secretary to the Board at £3O per annum.” Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded Mr Campbell, and carried, “ That th G Returning Officer’s account be passed for payment, except the item of 325, proportion of County Council notice re annual election.” Accounts passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned.
