BANK HOLIDAYS.
As the local Bank authorities do not consider it advioable to advertise bank holidays (a custom which is observed in nearly every other town in New, .Zealand ) we publish, for the benefit of our readers the “ Bank Holidays- Amendment Act.” All bills falling due on these holidays are made payable the day after. It is of importance that this should be known, to prevent confusion and disappointment';— ‘ 1. The short title'of this Act shall be “ The Bank Holidays Amendment Act, 1878.”
2. After the passing of this Act, the several days mentioned in the schedule to this -A.ct shall be" hank holidays; and sections two, three, and four of “ The Bank Holidays Act, 1873/ shall apply to those days. 3. It shall be lawful for the Governor by Order in Council, to appoint part ot n special day trom the hour of noon, to be observed as a bank half-holiday; the appoinment to be made in the manner in which special days may be appointed as bank holidays under the provisions of section five of “ The Bank Holidays Act, 1873.” SCHEDULE. New Year’s Day Good Friday The Day after Good Friday Easter Monday Whit Monday The 24th May (Queen’s Birthday) The 9th day of November Christinas Day The 26th day of December St. Patrick’s Day St. George’s Day St. Andrew’s Day.
