The Carlyle School will be re-opened on Monday next. It will be seen by County Council report, that tbe present Foreman of Works’ services are about to bo dispensed with. Wo understand that the s.s. Patea will be chartered to convey the Maori ploughmen to Wellington. Nominations for candidates for.the vacant seat in the County Council for the Hawera Riding, will be received at IJawera, up to 12 o’clock to-day. Mr W. Dale will continue sale of Mr Beamish’s effects, &c., at his mart, this day. A mooting will bo held at the Commercial Motel, Waverley, this evening, for the purpose of forming a Jockey Club. Mr W. Cowern’s next monthly; Kaka ramoa stock sale will take place on Wednesday next. Why is Sir George Grey like a drunken man ? Because he has taken too much Stout, and lias lost his Ballance.
