KAKARAMEA FLOUR MILLS. Flour in sacks and in bags, Pollard, Ga per 100 Iba; bran, 4s per 90 lbs. EDWIN PAYNE. May 24, 1879. 270 MR FEE MAN R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Wanganui, May 21. The yards at Hawera on Friday were well filled with a first-class lot of cattle. The bidding was very dull, which resulted in the bulk of the cattle being passed in at the auction. I succeeded in placing the larger number afterwards at fair prices. The large bullocks were turned out unsold, but 1 expect to place them privately this week. At St. Hill Street to-day, beef of the best quality sold well. Stores were in fair supply, but were not all sold, the reserves not coming up to owners expectation, though full value was offered. The bidding for sheep was animated and brisk, all being sold at quotations which were fully Is per head in advance of late sales. This was expected, owing to the better telegraphic information from England, as regards the fine state of the wool market. Pigs were at lower values, the class offered were not quite those required for the trade. No really good porkers came forward, chiefly Horses were in large numbers. Draught animals of good stamp, met a good sale, whilst weeds and screws were neglected, and difficult to sell. The quotations are as fallows : Cattle—At Hawera, 253 head were offered.
