AGRICULTURAL RETURNS.

The following is the result of the collection made in February last, of land in cultivation and agricultural produce for the Counties of Patea and Taranaki, as returned by the Superintendent Collectors:— Number of holdings over one acre in extent—Freehold : Patea 152, Taranaki,' 461 ; rented : Patea 80, Taranaki 134 ; part freehold part rented : Patea 70, Taranaki 78.

Extent of land broken up', but not under crop —Patea 635 acres, Taranaki 1,560 acres.

In Wheat—-Patea 1,113 acres, Taranaki 1,555 acres; estimated gross produce, in bushels : Patea 42,920, Taranaki 30,206. In Oats —For green food or hay : Patea 43 acres, Taranaki 121 acres ; for grain : Patea 1,599 acres, Taranaki 687 acres ; estimated gross produce of grain, in bushels : Patea 61,760, Taranaki 14,537. In Barley—Patea 54 acres, Taranaki 117 acres ; estimated gross produce, in bushels: Patea 1,775, Taranaki 3077. In Potatoes—Patea 92 acres, Taranaki 477 acres ; estimated gross produce, in tons : Patea 697, Taranaki 1,597. Total 'number of acres under crop exclusive of land under grass—Patea 2,927 acres, Taranaki 8,804. In Hay—Patea 989 acres, Taranaki 1,163 acres ; estimated gross produce, in tons : Patea 1,883, Taranaki 1,620.
