Rewi goes to Punui to-day. Some very inflammatory speeches were made amongst the Kingitea during yesterday’s meeting, and it is said that Tawhiao intends to propose another meeting nest December. It is considered that Rewi’s defection has disorganised the Kingitea, Tawhiao being only now supported by the few Hauhaus, and need no longer be considered as a bugbear. OAMABU. May 16. Grain and breadstuffs market, quiet. Quotations —Wheat, 3s 4d to 3s 5d ; oats, Is lOd to 2s ; barley, 5s ; flour, £8 15s to £9 ; bran, £4 ; pollard, £5; oatmeal, £l6; pearl barley, 265. CHRISTCHURCH. May 16. In import market, business is restricted. Little change in grain market. Wheat in small quantities changed hands at 3s 2d to 3s 3d; for ordinary samples, 3s 4d to 3s sd; good milling flour, two brands quoted at £8 15s; country brands to be had at con siderably less ; oats, 2s 2d to 2s 3d ; for feed, 2s 4s ; milling barley, declined, best samples, 5s ; potatoes, 55s to 57s 6d, but fanners do not care to part at that. Butter and cheese, no alteration.
