THIS Company is formed solely for the object of Building and Reselling Lands in the Provincial District of Taranaki. It is clear that transactions in land may be far more profitably entered upon by a Company than by private individuals, who, from want of sufficient capital, through imperfect management, and from other causes, arc under great disadvantages, and are not always in a position either to secure the best market or wait for a favorable opportunity to sell. The results achieved by similar Companies in other parts of the Colony show that investments of this kind are more lucrative than any others undertaken by Joint Stock Companies. The District of Taranaki, possessing as it does, a magnificent climate and some of the finest land in New Zealand, offers, peculiar facilities for a judicious investment of capital ; whilst its- steadily increasing population and progressing railways and roads, by which an extensive but hitherto, comparatively speaking, inaccessible public estate is almost daily rendered more available for settlement, present unusual advantages for a remunerative disposal of lands acquired at an early stage. A slight expenditure in the way of improvements, or a judicious subsidy to assist local Road Boards in opening up thoroughfares, will frequently insure a profitable sale, and, where advisable, will by these means endeavor to improve their properties with the idea of increasing their marketable value. The Company also propose, in certain instances, to offer land on a system of deferred payments, thereby securing absolute settlement and a regular income. This system, it is believed, will tend to increase the value of other lands held by the Company, and secure a class of purchasers who by circumstances may be unable to pay at once a heavy purchase price. Lands in some instances will be subdivided, and sold in lots to suit purchasers. It will be the aim of the Company to purchase, as far as possible, their properties direct from the Crown, in order that both their clients and themselves may derive the greatest possible advantages from direct purchase and re-sale. The Provisional Directors propose securing as the Managing Director a practical surveyor of considerable colonial experience, possessing also a thorough knowledge of the lands in the District. It is not proposed at the outset to call up more than £2 per share; this will enable the Company to make a fair beginning, and afterwards profits may either be added to capital, or a dividend declared, and further calls made. Deposits can be made at any Branch of the Bank of New South Wales, where Prospectuses and Forms of Application for shares can be obtained. All communications to be addressed to the Managing Director, New Plymouth, Taranaki. 435
