PAYMENT OF COUNCILLORS.
{To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sir, —In referring to the Counties Amended Act, section 73, it says, ; ‘Tho Council may from time to time vote such reasonable sums as it shall deem sufficient to defray the travelling expenses of Councillors coming from a distance to attend meetings of the Connell.” Now I would ask, are either Councillors Dale or Sherwood entitled to claim travelling expenses in terms of the Act ? What distance have they to come? Tiioy certainly arc very generous in giving their allowance to the Hospital; but is it theirs legally or morally to give.—l am, &c. BLUE GUM.
