WAVERLEY.
(From our own Correspondent.) April 8. A special meeting of the School Committee was called for last evening, for the purpose of nominating three gentlemen to fill the three vacancies in the Education Board. Present—Messrs Mason, Thurston, McDonald, J. Dickie.—On the. motion of Mr Thurston, the Committee nominated Mr T. Kells, Mr R. Horner, and Mr H. Godwin, to fill the vacancies. The Library Committee a!«o met last night, to receive the report of the subcommittee appointed to see about books, the result of which was that some books are to be ordered from Wanganui, to give the Library a start, so that the time that will elapse before the Library is fairly started will probably bo only a matter of days. It is intended to be on lo the County Council for assistance, and as such has been accorded to Hawera, there is little doubt that the application will be entertained.
