(From our own Correspondent.) April 4. Library matters are looking up. The committee hold a meeting on Tuesday, when the chairman (Mr Swiuboum) and the treasmer fMr Home), made a very favorable report of the state of affairs. It was thought that this sort of thing was calculated to injure (he prospects of the Library, and as such, was generally condemned by the committee, particularly as the gentleman in question holds a position of impoitance in the place. —At the request of Mr Mason, the Chairman road the following notice which he held, proved that the Waverley Library could not have claimed a share of last years grant.—Applications are invited from all existing Public Library Committees for their share of the grant in aid of such institutions for the current year. Payments will be made in accordance with the voluntary subscriptions received by them as for the year ending 31st December, 1878, exclusive of subscriptions in respect of which any portion of last year’s vote was paid. Applications to be sent in on or before the 27th January, 1879.—A. A.
