THE VALUATION LISTS.

(To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sir, —As one interested, may I inquire through I'our columns what effect the decision of the Supreme Court, obtained by Mr Hutcheson, Solicitor for the Wniroa Board, is to have on the other Boards that did not get the same advantages, but allowed Captain Wray to order new lists, because the County objected (as they did in this case) to the lowness of the whole valuation. If the same objection was bad in one instance it would be bad in the others. There would, if new lists have to be jiropared on a higher scale than the first lists in Hawora and Manutahi, be an unequal taxation in the County, ns it appears to, — Yours, &c., A SETTLER. Waverley, March 20, 1879. To the Editor of the Patea Mail. Sib, —Great dissatisfaction is felt here at the action taken by Mr Bridge at the last meeting of the Waverley School Committtee in trying to oust Mr Hansard, the present master, from his position. It is well known that it was only done to damage Mr Hansard’s character in the eyes of the public, and in furtherance of a threat used by Mr, Bridge some twelve months ago, when he openly expressed his dislike to that gentleman, and said then that if ever he got the opportunity he would get Mr Hansard shifted. Mr Hansard is a gentleman that is well liked, and has done his duty to the full satisfaction of the parents of the children attending the school, and it would be a great injustice to him if he should be shifted for no fault of his own, but to please the whims of a few grumblers.—l am &c., JUSTICE. Waverley, 24th March.
