CRICKET.

. (By our Reporter.) Tflß return match between the second, eleven of Hawera and eleven of Carlyle, came off on Saturday last, when the former got a severe thrashing. I like to 'see Eawera win, and get a fair share of glory, but at the same time,! think Carlyle should be allowed to spore, a win occasionally. I am not going, to devote to, fjraise, but ft must Be 'confessed that Caryle team never'appeared in better foim (that is to say, a few of them, for the team is composed of what I should call a mixed lot, some being very indifferent). For this latter reason I refrain from calling if a match between the second eleven of Hawera and the first .of Carlyle, which in reality it was not, although looked upon as such. Hawera labored under a slight disadvantage, viz., having to play with only ten men, but when the result of the match is looked , to, it must be admitted that the extra man would not have availed .them much. The following are the names of those who playedt-Hawera : Hunt, B. Baddeley, Lukes; K. B; Hamilton,Wanklyn, Withers, Mason (captain), F.
