Took First Prize at 1 Taranaki Agricultural Show)' ,1878. Cowden Lad is a dark dappled Bay Colt, with black points, 4 years old, imported from Melbourne, and was got by the renowned horse Cowden Lad, which was imported from Scotland to Melbourn. Before leaving Scotland he gained Six First Prizes at the principal Agricultural. Shows. After he landed in Melbourne he gained 9 First and 2 Second Prizes at ’ the principal Shows. His sire was Old Scotchman ; dam, a prize mare, Jean, by Prince Royal. The Colt’s darn is Tibbie, got' by Prince Charlie, and -his grand danl is by Nugget, also imported from Scotland. The above, thouglv not all this Colt’s pedigree, proves him to be one of the Best Bred Horses in the Colonies, and the only Colt in Zealand by the renowned CowdenTiitd. ’ ■ , ; The Thorough-bred Entire BED O U I N. Bedouin took the First Prize (Silver Medal) for Blood Entires at. the Taranaki Agricultural Society’s Show, 1876. Bedouin is by Traducer, dam Meg Merrilies out of Gipsy, Granddam of Columny, Backbiter, Envy, Sorcerer, and of Talisman, who was sold for 750 guineas to go to Melbourne, last season. Bedouin, bred in Canterbury, winner of the St. Leger Stakes, in 1874, is seven years old, height sixteen hands, colour brown bay, perfectly sound and free from vice, large bone and good action.
