(Per Press Agency.) TAURANGA. February 18. At about 5.40 this morning the s.s.Taupo ran on sunken rock at the -Mount; Middle compartment full of water. All cargo ..saved. She has a large hole in’ bottom, the fires being put out by the' water. All luggage was lauded on the Mount. The rock is the same as the Hawca bumped on some time ago. No excuse can be made for accident. Men of war and vessels of the largest tonnage have come the same way without running on ! rocks. The mate behaved splendidly. Most of the ladies were in bed.
