CABLE MESSAGES.
(■Reuter's Telegrams to Press Agency, jLONDON. February 10. Consols, 96£; wheat, 6d lower. The 24th Regiment suffered a great defeat by 20,000 Zulus, losing GO officers and 200 soldiers. A force of 600 native allies have been almost completely annihilated. The town of Natal is in great danger. The Governor and High Commissioner demanded instant reinforcements. Zulus lost 5,000 in the engagement. February 11. Tbe following reinforcements leave for the Cape immediately :—Six hundred infantry, two cavalry regiments, and twa batteries artillery. At a banquet last night, tbo First Lord of.the Admiralty deplored the Zulu disaster,and stated that reinforcements sufficient toterminate the struggle, would start within! o wppt. MELBOURNE. February 13; Nothing further has been heard of themovements of the Kelly gang. TheManager and Teller of the. Bank at Jerilderie have arrived.
