PATE A WEST ROAD BOARD.
Tub regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Town Hall, Kakaramoa, on Monday. Present—Messrs G. A. Marchant, J, Paterson (Carlyle), J. Paterson (Ivakaramea), and Napier. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr Marchant was voted to the chair. Minutes of last meeting were lead and confirmed. A letter was read-from the Commissioner Crown Lands, Taranaki, rc expenditure of deferred payment money. Proposed by Mr. Marchant, seconded by Mr Paterson (Carlyle), “ That the Secretary communicate with the Commissioner o£ Crown Lands, Taranaki, informing him of what contracts have been let by the Board in opening up deferred payment block within the Road District, and requesting the Land Boaid’s approval.” Carried. Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Paterson (Kakarainoa), and carried, “ That Messrs Fraser & Tregear be asked by the Board to take over Messrs Hill & Walsh's contract on Upper Ball lload within seven da3’s.” The report of the Committee appointed to get work done on Clifford’s contract, on Ball Road, having been read, it was resolved, to add Mr Paterson’s (Carlyle)' name to the Committee. Messrs Paterson (Carlyle) and Marchant were appointed- a Committee to take over Butler’s contract on Wilford lload. It was resolved, That Messrs Peacock and Hamilton’s attention he called to the fact that settlers using the Manulahi lload arc complaining of the works authorised on that road not being proceeded with. Proposed by Mr Paterson (Kakavamca), seconded by Mr Napier, and carried, “That as the roads in this district are suffering considerable damage from cattle and horses, in the way of breaking down embankments, stopping up culverts, and breaking gates and fences, this Board engage some trustworthy person to impound all stock straying on roads that are fenced on both sides within the boundaries of tho district.”—lt was resolved, That an advertisement bo inserted in the Patea Mail, requesting applications from persons willing to impound stock off district roads fenced on each side, within the Eoad Board District.
Resolved, That the Secretary write to Mr Daniel Hughes, asking him to put the Paterson Road in the same condition as he found it before he commenced his gravel contract.
Accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
