The following is a copy of communication from the Treasury, Wellington, to the Fatea County Council, and will help to show how Patca Land Eevenue goes ; Treasury, Wellington, 31st Jan, 1879. Sir, —t have the honor to inform you that the sum of £413 12s 9(1, of which particulars are subjoined, has been remitted
to the County Fund Account of the County of Patea, at the Bank of New Zealand. —I have, &c., J. B. Hkywood, Secretary to the Treasury, The Chairman Patea County Council. 20 per rent. Land sales,. £2,068 8s 4d, for December Quarter, 1878. Land Sales £2,754 11 11 Miscellaneous [i.e. rents] 3 0 0 £2,757 11 11 Less 25 per cent, to the New Plymouth Harbor Board 08!) 7 11 £2,068 4 0 Out of sale of land within Patea County, Taranaki nets for the .New Plymouth Harbor £6BO 7s lid, whilst Patea only gets £413 12s 9cl towards opening up the country and for roads. Prom any future sales of Plains land within Patea Comity, a further reduction of 15 per cent, will bo made for the construction of railway to Opnnako. Readers can judge for themselves how small will be the balance for this County.
