A Press Agenc} r telegram dated New Plymouth, 31st January sajas :—“John Shore jun., lately living at jvlokau, was drowned yesterday in the Waikatane Kiver. Deceased with his wife .attempted to cross on horseback early in the day, but was warned back by the natives. At noon he tried again, when a foal sprang upon the mare Shore was riding, striking him on the shoulder and knocking _ him off his horse. He could not swim, and was drowned. His body was found at sundown.”
