The Commissioners on Higher Education have decided to hodd their meetings with closed doors —not open to Press. . Mr Thompson, of the firm of and Shannon, has been appointed Director of the Colonial Insurance Company, vice Waiter Nathan, who is leaving the colony. Samples of the stone from the GoldenPoint mine yielded 5 to 6 ounces of gold per ton. LYTTELTON. January 28. Andrew Enickson, a seaman, this morning fell from the fore yard of the schooner Clio to the deck. He fell upon his feel, smashing his right; leg literally into a pulp, afterwards bounding forward upon hisface, fracturing his skull. Ho was dead when brought ashore a few minutes afterwards.
