PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD

This monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Secretary’s Office, Carlyle, on Monday last. Present— Bev. A. Dasent (Chairman), and Messrs. Dorrett, Gibson, and A. Gower. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed, and inwai’d and outward correspondence read. Tenders for gravelling were received but not accepted, Proposed by Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr Gower, and carried, That the flax be cleared, and Maori holes filled in on Beach Bead, for a width of 20 feet from the centre of the road.” Proposed by Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr Gower, and carried, “ That the north ditch on Wilson Boad be widened and deepened, and the edges of the road pared down- and thrown into the centre of the road.” It was resolved that Messrs Derrelt, Gibson, and A. Gower, should engage labour and superintend the above, and work to be done on the Beach Boad. On the motion of Mr Gibson seconded by Mr Derrctt, Mr D. M. Harris was appointed Valuator to the Board at a remuneration of £2 2s. Statement of accounts for December showed—Bocoipts : Balance Ist Dec., £73 8s 8d ; received during month, £I 4s 9d; amount over-deposited 2s 3d : total, £74 15s Sd. Expenditure during December, £ls 16s 2d, leaving a balance of £SB 19s Gd. The’ meeting adj on rued.
