{To the Editor of the Patea Mail:) Sik, — Sit a beggar on horseback ami lie will ride to the devii," is an old saying, and equally true in the present day. I see by the Patea Mail of Saturday last, that Messrs Horner, Wiochcouih, and Sherwood being b -mg members of that august body, the Comity Council of Patea, strongly object to any one loyal subject of Kcr Majesty Queen Victoria interviewing the Ministry on any subject the Count}Council in its collective wisdom choose to deal with. Do those three Councillors imagine for one moment they are the only persons with brains sullicicnt to interview tlie Ministry ; or that they, with their [three cm rule] ideas ate going to prevent any one from intervii-wing the Ministry, or in fact Queen Victoria, before asking their consent. I v/ondcr they did not propose a resolution prohibiting any one for the fill m e from either writing to, or iuterviewin g the powers that bo : upon any subject, without first a ski itg the consent of !he County Council Members, of which hodv they are such shining .lights.— I am, &c.r COMMON SKXSE.
