GLADIATOR is a golden chestnut, rising 7 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, bred by Count Legrange, by that celebrated horse, Gladiateur, out *of Nuncia, by Nuncio, out of Patina, by Ellis- Gladiateur by Monarque, out of Miss Gladiator, by Gladiateur, out of ' Taffrail, by Sheet Anchor. For further particulars vide English Stud Book. Gladiateur was the winner of the Derby St. Leger, 2000 guineas; and the Grand Prix, in iB6O. Terms —Single Mares, £7 7s; three or more, £6 10s; groomage, ss. Paddocking provided for four weeks free of charge, and afterwards 2s per week will be charged. Every care taken, but no responsibility. One of the owners will be in Wanganui every alternate Thursday (op, the day of P. R. Jackson’s sale), to receive and take up the country all marcs. ALBANS is 8 years old, by Maltou (impoited), out of Montrose, by Potentate; g d Dolly, by Sir Hercules; gg d Dora, the best in Sydney of her day on the turf. Melton’s pedigree is indisputable, and he is the sire of several first-class horses on the Sat and over Purdies. St. Albans won the Maiden Steeplechase at Aramoho in 1876; won the Hurdle Race at the Hutt last year, weight for age, beating Tommy Dodd and a large field; won the Ladies’ Purse at Foxton, welter weight for age, beating Parawenui, &c. His performances over fences in Wanganui have stamped him the best crosscountry horse in the Island. St. Albans is a beautiful dark chestnut, stands 16 hands, and his size and breeding is in every way suitable for getting roadsters, hunters, or superior hackucys. CONQUEROR is a bright bay, rising 5 . years old, stands 16 bands 3 inches high, of immense muscular power, and splendid action. Conqueror was bred by Mrs Miller, West Taieri, out of the celebrated mare Duchess, and is by Emperor out of the celebrated mare Kate (imported by the late Mr Jas. Strachan). Sire, Emperor. Emperor lias gained three first and three second prizes. Emperor’s sire, Napoleon (imported by J. Nimmq). Napoleon by .George Buchanan’s Emperor out of Nancy j (imported)—bred by Alexander Finlay, Esq., Sandybills, near Glasgow. Nancy by the celebrated Gaxnary Horse, and her dam by Scotsman. Nancy was first shown ae a iLyear. old, and got first prize at j Hamilton, first at Balliestan, second at I Glasgow, and second at Kilbride.' She was next year shown as a brood mare at Glasgow and Kilbride, where she received similar honors. Conqueror took the first prize as a 2year old at the Blueskin Show, 1875, and second prize for All-Comers and Aged Horses,at the Same Show; and at Oamaru the following year took second prize as a 3-year old in a field of nine competitors.
