TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB RACES. New Plymouth, December 5. The Taranaki Races commenced to-day. The weather was wet in the early part, but cleared about noon. A large number of persons were present, and the meeting was a success. First Day, Handicap Hurdle Race —Grey Momus, 1; Bully-for-You, 2; Awa Hou, 3. "War Eagle, Little-thought-of, and Billy also ran. Maiden Plate—docasta, 1; Chanticleer, 2; Forest Queen, 3. Taxation, Marion, and Gatchem also ran. Forest Queen was declared Gibs over Jocasta. Taranaki Cup, 60 sovs, 2 miles—Redeemer, 1; Venus Transit, 2. Taranaki Jockey Club Handicap, 150 sots — Folly, 1; Isaak Walton, 2; Otawa, 3. Second DaV'. Handicap' Steeplechase—Awa Hou, 1 ", Grey Momus, 2; Bully-for-You, 3. Harbor Stakes—'Speculation, 1. Railway Plate —Isaak Walton, 1. Autumn Handicap—lsaac Waltoif, 1; Folly, 2; Otawa, 3, Consolation —Otawa, 1; Catch ’Em, 2. The Temuka Ltader in remarking that 40,000 acres of land have been permanently reserved as an endowment for Milford Harbour, which, when made, is sure to make Temuka a flourishing commercial centre, says that the endowment, “ with the borrowing powers embodied in the Milford Harbor Board Bill, will give the Board, a command of over £IOO,OOO to operate upon when Sir J. Goode’s decision is received. '
