PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was hold at the Secretary’s office on Monday last. Present :—Rev, A. Dasent, (chairman), and Messrs A. Gower, Derrett, and Gibson. ' Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. ‘ Gorrespondencc included—Letter from the Under Secretary .of. Crown Lands, returning plan of proposed roadway along the Whenuakura bank of the Patea River; from W. Woulds, desiring to be freed from the contract of the deviation of roadway on the Putahi Road—To be referred to letter from Board of 9th September, and informed that the Board will require him to complete the contract; from J. Sperry,, Land Tax Commissioner, for copy of Valuation list 1878-79, and names of valuers for past and coming year—Secretary requested to reply ; from Prouse, Brothers, applying for improvement of side line, adjoining their property, on the Hukatere Road—Messrs Derrett, Gibson, and W. Gower, were appointed to inspect road, and report at next meeting ; from W. Symes, enclosing cheque for rates, £1 0s 6d," summons ss, and mileage 2s—Secretary to endeavour to get ■2s alleged overcharge for mileage, from Clerk of Court, On motion of Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr Derrett, Messrs A. Gower and Gibson were appointed to inspect Pilot and Wilson Roads, and report next meeting. Tender from J, Hurley for formation and gravelling at £7 per chain, being informal, was declined, and fresh tenders ordered to be called. Statement of accounts for November, showed :—Receipts—balance on Ist November, £163 8s Sd; received during month £lol6s 2d ;—total £174 4s lOd. Expenditure during November, £IOO 16s 2d, leaving a balance of £73 8s Bd, Accounts passed—Prouse Brothers, labor, £7 Ss 6d Fraser and Tregcar. engineering, &c., £6 6s. The meeting adjourned.
