PATE A WEST ROAD BOARD.
The adjourned meeting- of the above Board was held at the Town Hall, Kakaramea, on Monday last, 25th instant. Present.—Messrs Mcßae (chairman) J. Paterson (Kakaramea), Napier, Hamilton, Peacock and Marchant. The Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed. . Correspondence included—Letter from the Treasury, notifying that £143 3s lid had been placed to the credit of the Board on account of subsidy ; from Fraser and Tregrear, forwarding plans and estimates of works on Tmnalia Road ; from J. Adams and others asking Board to fall bush on on the road leading to their land. It was resolved that the petitioners for bush felling (Messrs Adams and others) be informed that the Board has. no funds at its disposal at present. Resolved—“ That the Secretary write to the Hon. the Colonial Treasurer, re stoppage of £l2 from subsidy for present year.” Proposed by Mr Hamilton, seconded by Mr Mcßae, and carried, —“That Messrs Fraser and Tregear be requested to commence Upper Kakaramea Road within a fortnight from date, and have it completed according to plan forwarded on 13th July, within thirty days, or the Board will cause it to be done, and charge them with half their estimated cost.
Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded by Mr Paterson, and carried, —“ That Messrs Fraser and Tregear be requested to commence work on Clifford’s contract, Ball Road, within a fortnight, and to complete it within a month from date, failing which the Board will have the work done at their expense.” Tenders were opened as follows : —No. 2 contract, Tumaha Road—T. Bayly, £33, accepted ; R. Tulloch, £34 10s, declined. No 3 contract, Tumaha road-—R. Tulloch, £2l ; T. Bayly, £22 Gs. Both tenders, were declined. Tender from Mr Howard, for work on the Upper Ball Road, being informal, was declined. Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Peaeock and carried—“ That Messrs Hamilton and Peacock be empowered to get Nos. 1 and 3 contracts, Taumaha Road completed, at Engineer’s estimate, work to be done according to specification.”
Resolved —“ That Mr Merchant be authorised to got the bush felled on Manutahi
Tenders to be called for works on Upper Ball Road ; also for Valuators. J The Secretary was instructed to purchase' drain pipes. Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Napier—“ That Messrs J. Paterson (Kakarainea), apd’Marchant be empowered to inspect and take over Messrs Johnson and Drewoiy’s bush falling contract when, completed.” Carried. Mr Marchant gave notice of motion for next meeting, —“ That in the event of no eligible tenders for the earthworks on the Upper Ball Road being before the Board next meeting, the Board obtain the consent of the County Council to spending the money votei out of the rates, on the Lower Ball Road, and the money voted out of the deferred payment grant, on opening up the bush roads within the Block.” The meeting adjourned.
