MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Wanganui, November 20. 1 HELD a large sale of cattle at Hawera on Friday last. The bidding was not so brisk as it has been lately—prices being in favor of buyers. The sale at St. Hill Street yards today was well attended by buyers from the country distiicts, the chief attraction being the imported bulls. I passed some of them in at the auction, but sold them afterwards at prices quoted below. Store cattle sold well, and beef made full rates. Only a small number of sheep came forward, and sold at extreme rates. Cattle—At Hawera 290 head were yarded. Prices were—Steers, £5 Ss to £6 2s Gd ; cows, £5 17s Gd to £6 10s; yearlings, £2 17s Gd; 18-months old, mixed sexes, £4. At the Yards to-day 170 head were penned. Fat bullocks of prime quality, £lO 12s Gd to £l2 2s Gd; steers. £6; cows, £5 12s 6d; steers and heifers, £4 7s 6d. The bulls sold as follows—l. Colonel Townley, to Mr Hunter, £6l; 2. Red and While, to Mr Lowes, £6O; 3, Sharebroker, to Mr Dempster, £53; 4. to Mr Robertson, £22; », to Mr Lysaght. £35; 6, to Mr Cbwpor, £2B; 7, to Mr Lysaght, £32; 8, Mr Buchanan, £32; 9, Mr Lysnght, £35; 10, Mr Partridge. £35; 11, Mr Jones. £45; 12, Mr Inkster, £42; 15. Mr McDonald. £33; Prince of Wales, Mr Gower, £7O; Prince Leopold, Air R. Hair, £66; Deceit. Air D. Peat, £7O. Sheep—Only 120 came forward. One pen of prize wethers mads 15s Gd; other pens, 10s to 1 Is. Horses—4o head made up the sale. I sold about 30 at quotations—Good hacks up to £2O: inferior. £5 to £10; light draught, £lB to £2O.
