Malton’s pedigree is indisputable, and he is the sire of several first-class horses on the flat and over hurdles. St. Albans won the Maiden Steeplechase at Aramoho in 1876; won the Hurdle Race at the Hutt last year, weight for age, beating Tommy Dodd and a large field; won the Ladies’ Purse at Foxton, welter weight for age, beating Parawenui, &c. His performances over fences in Wanganui have stamped him the best crosscountry horse in the Island. St. Albans is a beautiiul dark chestnut, stands 16 hands, and from his size and breeding is in every way suitable for getting roadsters, hunters, or superior hackneys.
