HAWERA.

(from our own correspondent’) A large and influential meeting was held at the Town Hall, Hawera, on Wednesday evening last, to consider the best means for obtaining information as to the site to be fixed upon for the railway station. Mr Midd! etnas was voted to the chair. After considerable discussion, the following resolutions, to be forwarded to the Hon. the Minister, of Public Works, were proposed by Mr Roy, and carried unanimously : That this meeting would strongly impress upon Government, that it is of vital importance to the commercial interests of the Town of Hawera, that the site of the railway station be fixed with as little delay ■as possible.”—“That in giving effect to the preceding resolution, the Government be asked to fix the site of the railway station in the Town of Hawera, or as near thereto as practicable.” The sale of sections by Messrs Thomson and McGuire on Thursday, .was a great success, the bidding being brisk, and good prices realised throughout.
