ALBANS is 8 years old, by Malton (impelled), out of Montrose, by Potentate; g d Dolly, by Sir Hercules; gg d Dora, the best in Sydney of her day on the turf. Malton’s pedigree is indisputable, and he is the sire of several first-class horses on the flat and over hurdles. St. Albans won the Maiden Steeplechase at Aramoho in 187G; Avon the Hurdle Race at the Hutt last year, weight for age, beating Tommy Dodd and a large field; won the Ladies’ Purse at Foxton, welter weight for ago, beating Parawenui, &c. His performances over fences in Wanganui have stamped him the best crosscountry horse in the Island. St. Albans is a beautilul dark chestnut, stands 16 hands, and from his size and breeding is in every way suitable for getting roadsters, hunters, or superior hackneys.
