PATEA HARBOR BOARD.
The adjourned meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last, all the members being present,- Mr Sherwood in the chair. Proposed by Mr Taplin, seconded by Mr Williamson, and lost, “That the application of the Patea Boiling Down Company, asking permission to erect a jetty at their own expense, at the Patea Heads, for the purpose of importing and exporting, strictly for their own stock and requirements, be entertained, and to pay such dues'as may be imposed by this Board. — The following amendment, proposed by Mr Bridge, seconded by Mr Milroy, was carried, “That the Patea Boiling Down Company be informed that this Board has
no power to grant them permission to erect a wharf in the Patea River, such power being in the hands of the Governor.”— Ayes—-Bridge, Milroy, Winchcornb, and Sherwood. Noes—Taplin, Gibson, and 'Williamson. Reply to Mr Dickson’s letter of 291h July, agreed to. Pi oposed by Mr Bridge, seconded by Mr Winchcornb, and carried, “jfhat the chiarman be empowered to place two or more rooms in the R.M, house, at the disposal of the . Clerk to the Board, So long as the Board has possession.” Proposed by Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr Bridge, and carried, “ That the Kngvneor bo requested ro report to the Board, at their next meeting, upon the advisability of a wharf being erected on the site proposed by the Patea Boiling Down Company ; upon the obstruction this wharf would be to the river ; and to give the Board such information with regard to the proposed wharf as will guide the Board in arriving at a .decision in the matter, should it be referred to them bv the Governor.” The meeting adjourned.
