CARLYLE TOWN BOARD.
A special meeting' of the above Board was held at the Council Buildings on Monday evening last, i to consider the estimate of expenditure for the present year. Present: Messrs Milrov (chairman), Aitchison, Tapi in. Dale, an d Hirst. Estimate of expenditure was read by the Chairman, after which it was proposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Taplin, and carried on division, “That an additional il'2o be added to tiie estimates, for the purpose of forming Norfolk-street, from York-strcet to Kent-street, and Rent-street from Norfolk-street to Uedfoni-street.”— Ayes—Mb my, Aitchison, Taplin, Dale. Noes—Hirst.
Proposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Milroy. and carried on division, “That the Working Committee’s Report, re Exp-n----ditnre, with amendments, bo adopted, ’ Ayes—Milroy, Aitchison, Taplin, Dale. Noes—Hirst. Proposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Taplin, and resolved, “That the Engineers bo instructed to prepare plans ami .specifications for the different works required, also estimated cost.” Proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Dale, and resolved, “That the Working Committee call, and accept tenders during the month, for clearing rushes, &c., in Norfolk-street.” The following is the amended Estimate of Expenditure for the present year, as adopted by the Board ; —Re-gravelling west side of Taranaki Road, from Meredithsti'cet to Jacornb & Co.’s corner, £l2 ; forming Leieestcr-street full width, from Taranaki Road to Dorset-street, and gravelling same distance, 15 feet wide—also formation of footpath on south side, £SO ; forming Dorset-street, from north side of Leicester-strect to Taranaki Road, form footpaths, and gravel east footpath, £-10 ; form Oxford-street, from Taranaki Road to Cross-street, form and gravel footpath to Institute, and continue formation to Cross-street, £4O ; form Cambridgestreet to cutting, and form footpaths on both sides, same distance, £2O; clear Norfolk-street, from Taranaki Road to York-street full width, and improve sand cutting opposite section 14, block 25, £2O; form footpath and road from present metal, to footpath on north side, as far as Devon-streot from Taranaki Road—also gravel footpath same distance, form Taranaki Road from Bedford-street to south side of Catholic Church property, full width—thence form two chains in length, half a chain wide, and lower present footpath to permanent level, £100; improve grade in Chestor-street, from Corn wall-street towards Sussex-street, £ls; form and gravel approach from York-street in Sulfolk-streot, towards River, £lO ; put down wooden kerbing on blocks, from corner of Devon and Bedford-streets, to Taranaki Road, and from Mr Taplin’s corner to the Albion Hotel, and re-gravel footpath from Mr Taplin’s corner to Albion Hotel full width, £IOO ; form Norfolkstreet, from York-street to Kent-street, and Kent-street, from Norfolk-street to Bedfordstreet, £2o—total, £527.
