PATEA V TARANAKI.
{To the Editor of the Patka Mail.) Sir, —I will attempt to answer “ Nemo’s” letter of last Wednesday, in which he seems to be very indignant and rather onesided. 1. We are well represented in Parliament having two votes instead of one, that is, Major Atkinson and Mr Hryce, and “ Nemo” ought to know that a M.P. should be for the colony—not for a particular district or locality. 2. Education —surely there are as clever men in Wanganui as in Patea, and our members have only a short journey of forty miles occasionally. 3. Survey office is better in New Plymouth, that being the capital of the Provincial district.
4, G, 7. Are, I hope, folly explained in my note of No. 3. 5. Id too contemptible to notice, as our interests are identical with New Plymouth. B.' I fail to see any wrong done to Patea, as it must be plain to every one that Patea has not any claim on Waimate, as it properly belongs to New Plymouth, and the Jive per cent, that we get is more than we arc entitled to. The remainder of “ Nemo’s” letter is too childish to refer to, as we have our two members to watch over our interests, and. “ Nemo” must have more money than sense to munificieutly waste a pound,if over flush let him give it to the Hospital fund or some sensible charitable purpose.—l am, &c., CO II MON SEN IS H,
