WAVERLEY.

(mpi OJI OUR OWN CORRESI’OSDRST.) A hJTnoon Committee meeting was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Milne, Mathieson, Mason, and Thurston, It was resolved to open an account with the Bank of New Zealand, Wavcrley ; Mr Milne, in conjunction with the Chainnan, to sign cheques. The sum of £,O Iss Gd was paid to the schoolmaster, on account of expenses incurred in behalf of the school, from Ist January, IS7B, to Ist July. Tenders for addition to schoolhonse wore opened. Two only were received, and it was resolved to send them to the Education Board for decision. The Chairman was requested to again draw the attention ot the Board to the urgent necessity of certain repairs being made. The Town Board held its usual monthly meeting last week, but besides resolving on a few slight alterations in some of the bye streets, nothing of any importance was done, It was stated that nothing had been hoard from Government re the Town Belt, and the Chairman was requested to communicate with Mr Bryce on the subject. The remains of the late Miss Jane Dickie were interred in the Cemetery on Tuesday last. The deceased lady had been a confirmed invalid for some years, and had lately been unable to leave her hod. The fun end was very largely attended, the service being performed by the Uov Mr Allsworth. A ball was given in the Town Hall on Wednesday, when a pleasant evening was spent.
