HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. WELLINGTON. August 9. Mr Woolcock gave notice to move That the Government should introduce a Bill dealing with payment of members. Government informed Mr Reeves tha the question of appointing an inspector of Mines for the Nelson South-West Goldfields, required most serious consideration. Mr Stout replying to Mr Reeves, said Government would be ready to face the question restricting Chinese immigration, when it really arose. At present, the colony was not in the position of California. Mr Fisher informed Mr Russell that a parcel post between this colony and England would be introduced in a few days.
