[per press agency.] CHRISTCHURCH. June 28. At a Conference of Municipal and County Council delegates last evening, it was resolved that in the opinion of the Conference, existing local bodies should undertake the distribution of charitable aid until Government take measures in Parliament for the permanent transfer. The resolution was strongly opposed by the Christchurch delegate,"who urged that Government should not be relieved of .charitable aid distribution until permanent arrangements and subsidies be made by legislative enactment, otherwise there would be great trouble afterwards to get it done.
