The special correspondent of the New Zealand Herald writes:—“ Would it surprise your readers' to know that the Hauhau Ngathnaniapotps spend their evenings in dancing—not the old dances —but the waltz, schottlsehc, polka, and quadrille. In all their vagaries dancing lias become a mania with the young folks lately, especially with the ladies. The girls take their pipes at every spell, but they maintain the character of their sex amongst Europeans for being indefatigable dancers. Both sexes dance admirably, and nearly all the lads and girls play the concertina well.” It .is also said that .King Tawhiao’s sou danced the Reel o’ Tullochgornm at the Waikato cavalry ball a few evenings ago ”
