PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.
A special meeting of the above Board was held at Carlyle on Monday last, to transact ordinary business. Present: J. Nicholson, J. Gibson, A. Gower, William Gower, and
Rev A. Dasent. The Rev A. Dasent was elected chairman.
Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed.
Correspondence included—Letter from J. Riddell, jun., with specifications signed by Watkins and Would ; from A. Dasent and J. Nicholson for secretary to call special meeting ; from D M. Harris, Returning Officer, notifying election of members ; from D. G. Fraser, notifying having passed 0. Robinson’s contract on the Putahi Road.
Proposed by Mr Nicholson, seconded by Mr Gibson, and carried, “ That the rate of ninepence in the £ be levied on the value of all rateable property within the Patea East or 26th Road District, and that the usual notice be given.” Resolved, That the rate should he for one year, and be payable on Ist August. Special meeting to strike rate on 2oth instant.
On motion of Mr Nicholson, seconded by Mr Gibson, it was resolved, “ That notice should be sent to Mr Frederick Richards to remove gates from off the road leading to the Pilot Station.
Proposed by Mr A. Gower, seconded by Mr Gibson, and resolved, “ That all cattle trespassing on road within the Patea East Road District should be impounded, and that the Secretary be instructed to employ the Poundkeeper to carry out the above resolution.”
Statement of receipts and expenditure for May was read, showing, Receipts—■ balance from April, £.193 18s lid ; Expenditure—£9 6s 8d ; leaving a balance of £lB4 12s 3d.
The following accounts were passed for payment—o. Robinson, P.utahi Road, £9O, including £lO for extra work on deviation ; Patea Mail, £5 8s ; Secretary, £2 Is Sd 5 nomination expenses, £1 Is ; Frasenrand Tregear, survey Putahi Road £l2. ' The meeting adjourned.
