Since Sir John Goode’s visit, there have been several letters on tho Wharf Question, and suggestions as to how the matter should be decided. We certainly consider that the opinion of Sir John Goode should carry more weight on a matter of that sort, than the opinions of any number of ratepayers. With the object of obtaining information for the general public, our representative interviewed the Chairman of the Harbor Board (Mr-G. F. Sherwood} to ascertain if any action had been taken on the matter in dispute. The reply was that all reports, plans, and specifications, connected with the river, including plans of wharves, were laid before Sir John Goode by the Chairman, in presence of tho Engineer, so that he might know all the requirements, and be able to report fully as to what work should be done, and where—not only for the present, but to meet possible future wants. Mr Sherwood and the Engineer-were at hand during examination of the plans, to reply to any questions, and which we understand were freely put by Sir John Goode, This had all been done before the deputation had attempted to interview Sir John. Beyond the statement that all data at command of the Board had been laid before Sir John Goode, Mr Sherwood refused to say anything. Report will in due course be sent.
