ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
[We are at all times ready to give expression to every shade oi! opinion, but in no case do wc holdout-selves 'responsible, for the sentiments of our correspondents.] DEPUTATION ON SIR JOHN GOODE. (To Cue Editor of the Patea Mail.) Siu, —Li order to obtain information, for the benefit of tlio public, I wish to ask if it is true that Air John Gibson and Mr Bridge, waited noon Sir John Goode to impress upon him the necessity of having the wharves erected on the Whcnuakura side of the Patea River, and, if so, what authority they had for so doing-.
Mr Bridge has been so long riding the high horse at Okutnku, that ho no doubt thinks he can do the same thing here. As to Mr Gibson, he has property on the Wheuuaknra side of the river, the value of winch would be advanced by having' the wharves near it, and that is, doubtless, of far more consideration to him than the public interests, 'which he is supposed to represent in the Harbour Board. If this letter brings out the information sought I shall 'have something more to say upon the subject.—l am, &c., INQUIRER.
