April £7, 1878. £7O MR F R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. VvanglUc'i, April 25The prolonged dry weather lias had ja depressing effect on our stock market. The sale; ut Waver ley on Saturday showed this' co a great extent, especially in Rig demand for large cattle. Younger cattle found purchasers at fair values, but: the grown cattle were turned out unsold. I placed all the sheep at satisfactory prices, considering the scarcity of feed. The rain that fell during the last two days revived prices to some extent at the sale to-day, cattle being fully 7 iOs per head dearer. One pen of.largo bullocks were lamed out un-old, the prices ctiered uot.commg up to owners' expectations. Sheep made good prices, all being placed exempt one pen of ewes. I held a clearing sale at Mr Thompson's. N ukumaru. on Tuesday, everything being quitted at satislactoi-y prices. (Flotations arc : Cad.tie, —2 year old steers, £5 ; cows, £5 ; ca!ve.s. ~':2 2s (Id. At the Yards, to-day. si> head, were yarded—Fat cows, £S 15s to £7 10 ; : cows air! calves, .£7 ; yearlings. £3 i.i-. Sheep.—At W-ivorlcy; were penned. Fat awes. 9s ; wethers; Its ltd ; lambs, 4* I'd. At the Bt. Hill R-.i'cet Yards, to-day. 1.107 came forward. Fad wethers, from Its 6u to Us 3d ; store wethers, 7s Od to ‘Js fid; ewes, 7S to Horses,—There were not so many offered as usual, and prices were lower. Hacks made up to £lB 15s ; inferior animals were difficult to sell; light draught, from £2U to £2H. Exports.—Cattle, nil; sheep,nil; 50horses.
