K.-VTAOKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY •STOCK REPORT. Wanganui. March 14. The Yards have been well tilled with stock during the,past fortnight, and fair values obtained. The horse sale on Saturday commanded a large attendance of buyers and those interested in that description of stock. About lOOhorscs came to the hammer, twothirds of them finding purchasers at the quotations. The competition for the youngsters and the -draught animals was exceedingly good. The Hawcra sale, on Tuesday, was not so well attended, and the bidding was dull. A -good number of the pens were passed in at the auction, but were afterwards placed. The stock offered was first-class. At the St. Hill Street Yards, to-day, all the pens were well filled, and everything sold at good values. Cattle.—At Hawera, 297 head came forward. Large bullocks, LS ; good stores, L 0 15s ; cows, Lsto L 52s 6d ; IS months old heifers, L 4 10s ; mixed stores, L 4 2s Gd. At the Yards, to-day, 80 head were yarded. Fat cows. LG 15s to I.G 17s Gd ; bullocks. L 8 Its Gd to L 9 ; store steers, L 6 2s Gd ; heifers and steers, L 4 5s ; milch cows, from L 5 2s Gd to ‘L9. Sheep—At Hawcra, 2,199 were penned. Ewes, 4s Cd to 5s ; lambs, 3s Gd to 4s Gd ; ewes and wethers, half fat, 7s (id. At St. Hill Street. 1.289 were sold. Wethers, 9s 9cl to 10s 9d ; owes, Cs 9d to 11s 3d ; lambs, 2s 6d to 7s 3d. Horses. —At the Saturday sale, prices were —Buggy horses. L 39 the pair ; draught marcs, L2l, L3O 10s, LGO, L 73 ; unbroken, Ll2, Ll2 10s up to L 25 ; hacks, LI 3 to LlB ; Nora Creina, L 25 ; Flirt, L2G ; Nutwith, L4o; Maid of the Mill, L3B ; Amazon, L 39 ; Charity, LIS ; Hope, L 27 ; Comus, LSO ; Isaac Mendoza, LIG ; Faith, Ll7 ; Petrucia, X.‘SU 5 Lc-a.cv- X.4U ; C’ uri oslvy, X/ 70 ; Confident, L3B. At the Yards, to-day, about the usual number were offered. Light draught horses, Lls to Ll7 5s ; hacks, LlO to LIG ; screws and weeds, L 4 to LG 10s. Exports—so cattle, GOO sheep, and GO horses. WASCASUI GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. March 14. G. A. Hurley reports as below During the last week business has been very good in grain of all kinds. Farmers are still holding whatever quantities they have of rye grass, &c.. for higher rates. Wholesale prices I quote as follows. Oats, 4s 3d for new and 4s 10c! for best old. Stocks of the latter are very limited. Wheat: Being no export I can only give farmers’ quotations which are from 4s 6d to ss. Parcels have been sold at both and also at intermediate prices. Barley, nominal. Flour, from Ll4 to Lls for Oamaru and local. Oatmeal, L2O. Dairy produce; and hams and bacon are only just being inquired for atlow rates. Potatoes, L 4 10s to L 5. Grass seeds, &c., unchanged.
