R.M. COURT.— Monday, March 11.

(Before C. A. Wray, Esq., KM., and Capt Wilson, J.IV)

Sergeant Cabil v Ngauiri, for beingdrunk and disorderly on 27th February last —fined 10s or 48 hours.

Same v Kuku, drunk and fighting opposite Empire Hotel on the 2nd of March —-lined 10s or 48 hours. Katoia v Aikman and Johnstone. Claim £B7 for «ui vcys and labor. Mr Uainmcrton appeared for defendants. It appeared that some time since, the Maoris had had the land surveyed before leasing- it to Mr McMasters, and that afterwards the lease was taken over by Messrs Johnstone and Aikman, whom Katoia said had promised to refund him the amount he had paul for the survey. The defendants denied that any such agreenu-nt had been made, and Mr Hamerton argued that even if it had it would not be binding, unless it was a written agreement. Several witnesses were called, but as no evidence could be obtained in proof of the statement of Katoia, judgment was according given for the- defeiidats with £6 10s costs.

Frank Bayley v Thomas Dick, for stealing a tether rope valued at 4s (id cm the 3rd of March last. Air Bamorton for defendant. As no evidence could be given to prove the taking'of the rope, and as it was not found in the prisoner's-possession, Magistrates accordingly dismissed the case.

One European for being drunk was fined 10s and costs.-

Correspondence—Letter from Chief Sur* veyor, New Plymouth, stating tiiat he was unable to comply with Board’s request to have siirvey lines on Hursthouse Load examined; Letter to be sent to Minister of Lands re survey Hursthouse Load ; from R. Clifford asking Board to grant him an extra amount for carrying out his contract on Ball Load; Letter to lie on the table ; From G. A. Merchant withdrawing his tender for felling bush on Jolt Bond. Letter to stand over until committee have reported; from W. Gibbs requesting Board to make about three dams of side cutting on Ball Hoad. Applicant to he informed that Board has no funds at disposal at piesent time.

It was resolved* “That the Elector’s Roll for the district bo kept at the office of the Board, and that notice bo given that it is open for inspection from the 20th instant until the loth April next.” Accounts passed for payment—j. Marchant, Bs. The Boar 1 adjourned until Bth April.
