A JUDGE’S CHARGE.

At the conclusion of a long trial in one of the American courts the Judge thus addressed “ tiie patient twelve ” :—“ If the jury believe from the evidence that the plaintiff and defendant wore partners in the grocery, and that the plaintiff’ bought out the defendant and gave his note for the interest, and that the defendant paid for the note by delivering to the plaintiff a cow, which ho warranted, and the warranty was broken by reason of the unsonndness of the cow, and he drove the cow back and tendered her to the defendant, but the defendant refused to receive her, and the plaintiff took her home, put a heavy yoke or poke upon to prevent her jumping the fence, and that owing to the poke or yoke she broke her neck and died ; and if the jury believe that the defendant’s interest in the grocery was worth anything, the plaintiffs note was worthless, and the cow good for nothing, either for milk or beef, then they must find out for themselves how they will decide the case; for the court, -if it understands itself, and it thinks it does, don’t know how such a case could be defended.”

A Nevada newspaper says of a man who has sued it for libel, that “he petitions the Court to stitch a golden patch over his rent reputation.” A Mobile paper says of a violin player in that city that “ his playing would give any well-educated sawmill the toothache.”
