Patsa Mail Office, Friday Morning. Messrs J. Sfrachan Grcig & Co. report that there was a large attendance at their monthly sale, heid at Hawera, on Wednesday last, considering the very inclement state of the weather, which prevented the sale of live stock taking place for over two hours after the advertised time. There were about 100 head of cattle sold at quotations—Cows in calf, A 5 15s; 3-year old store steers, £7 ; dairy cows, from £0 10s to £8 10s. A pen of young heifers, about 15 months, fetched £1 10s ; mixed stores, £1 8s 6d ; yearlings, £3 10s ; 2 draught colts, at £2O each ; trap horse, £lB 10s : good hack, £2l lOrs. Several town sections in Hawera were disposed of at satisfactory prices. Some that were sold at the previous months’ sale were offered again, and realised an advance of 20 per cent. Others that were sold at auction about six months ago, realised an advance of 100 per cent, at this sale. A lot of merchandise and sundries fetched fair prices. MR F. E. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY REPORT. Wanganui, January 17. At the Yards, to-day, the attendance was large, and all the pens were well tilled. Competition was very brisk, prices being in favor of the sellers, with the exception of sheep, which were of lower values. I have inquiries for sheep and store cattle. Cattle—ll4 head came forward. Fat bullocks made from £7 17s (Id to £0; store cows, £5 10s ; milch cows, £(> 12s (Id to £8 12s fill: cows and calves, £7 10s; Mr J. Cameron's heifers, £0 to £lO 7s (Id. Sheep—2.3 U) were penned. Wethers, medium quality, 8s !>d ; ewes, l!s 9d to 7s (Id ; lambs, low in condition, 3s Gel to 4s 9d. Rams—Air Baker’s rams made from £1 2s Gd to £l2 ss. Horses —A large number were offered. Hacks made from £G to £lO 5s ; light draught, up to £ls ; heavy do, up to £35. Exports —42 head cattle, 900 sheep.
